Finally the rain has stopped here in Indianapolis, for at least a day, and the forecast is a little more promising after this weekend.

Brickyard Crossing will open for play on Tuesday, March 25. We already have a few players signed up.

The course is starting to green up a little after our superintendent, Jeff Stuart, and his crew mowed fairways and greens. Jeff does a great job here at the Brickyard keeping the course in tournament condition for everyday play.

Did anybody think Tiger wasn’t going to win last Sunday after being five shots behind after the first round? Did you think he was going to miss that 25-foot, left-to-right putt for the win?

I know one person who knew he was going to make the putt – Tiger. He had not made a putt over 20 feet all week for a birdie. Odds were high he would make the winning putt. Arnold Palmer even knew.

While watching the tournament on Saturday, I saw a player who hit his ball in a hazard and had to identify his ball. This is a rule change for this year implemented by the USGA. Before this change, you could hit any ball out of a hazard and not be penalized.

This rule change is both good and bad. You will be allowed to pick up and identify your ball before you hit it, which could lead to a better lie. But it also could lead to some tricky issues about placing the ball back as it was before being identified.

The best thing to do is get a rulebook and look for the principal changes in the rules for this year. Better yet, read the book, and you will find out the rules are there to help you and not hurt you.

Enough about rules: Let’s get some weather here at the Brickyard and play some golf!
