Introduction:

Hi! Welcome to my blog. I really couldn’t come up with a more spectacular entrance to my redbullindianapolisgp.com blog.

My name is Jarrod Krisiloff, and I am extremely pumped for the inaugural Red Bull Indianapolis GP. I am an avid rider and a speed junkie who coincidently planned my wedding the same weekend as MotoGP. So throughout my “weekly” blog, I’ll be delivering updates on planning your wedding around a motorcycle race, places to check out around Indianapolis on your two-wheeler and just about any other topic that comes to mind.

35 and SUN-day:

Jarrod on bikeI am typically a rider that can’t stay off my black 2007 Triumph Tiger for a week or so at a time, so I spent the extra loot on cold-weather riding gear, which includes my Alpinestars all-weather gear, REV’IT Gloves (amazing), First Gear heated jacket, First Gear heated gloves (if necessary) and Puma Bonneville Gore-tex Boots. I have to say that I get toastier than most people’s cars!

Last Sunday (Jan. 27), it was a beautiful day, so my buddy Matt and I took to the streets and cruised around the city from about noon until 8 p.m. We made a gas stop, Starbucks stop and a trip down to my soon-to-be in-laws for some dinner. It was a great day, considering I had been kept off my bike for nearly a month! I am brave, but I wouldn’t dare hop on my bike below 25 degrees and risk ice!

It’s a Twister!

On Tuesday, Jan. 29, I almost rode my bike to work in 50-degree weather and am extremely glad that I didn’t. Every Tuesday night, Don Kay has a motorsports radio show on autosportradio.com that takes place at McGilvery’s Pub near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and I was a guest on Tuesday. Here’s a link to the show, you can hear where the tornado hit about 18 minutes or so into the show: http://autosportradio.com/libby/012908.mp3.

I believe I was talking about streaming video when it felt like we were in the middle of an earthquake. Then all of the sudden, an old guy yells, “Hit the deck!” and splash, the windows busted out! After everyone in McGilvery’s got back to their feet, the same guy shouted, “There’s another one comin’, and it’s heading for Broad Ripple!”

I immediately started to panic because my 5-month-old son, Van, and fiancée were home, and I was positive that they weren’t going to be prepared for an 80-mph gust of wind! Luckily, everything was fine, and I was thankful for that. It wasn’t the rain that would have bothered me. I am comfortable rain-riding as long as I have my rain gear on; it’s the tornado that hit McGilvery’s that really would have been scary. Could you imagine how the wind would have tossed my bike?

Stay tuned each week here on redbullindianapolisgp.com for my latest blog of nonsense.
